Today I just have a short easy run. Altho, my “easy” pace has increased so much it’s faster than my training pace…..by a lot.
Which leads me to my current problem…at what pace should I be training?
In my head, my fitness level should allow me to train to finish a half at my 5k pace. Of course, that may be a big crazy dream!
Here’s a neat chart I found:
5k Test Run Pace Predictor for Half-Marathon
according to this chart, I could probably safely move up a bit. Altho, I’m just not sure, and I won’t decide until we actually start speed work. Just something for me to ponder. :)
I’m also considering this race coming up. Tour des Fleurs, the 20K. Fitness-wise, I’m ready to run it right now, but I’m concerned about the heat. They do offer a 10k, but I think that’s going to be below the mileage I’m hoping to get that weekend, meaning I’ll have to do a longer run again on the other day of the weekend. I’m happier when the race matches up with my training schedule mileage.
I think I might register for the 20K but keep an eye on the weather. I can always drop down to the 10k if necessary, and do the extra running. At least the race is on a Saturday and I can do make-up running the next day.
Soon I’ll be heading to California for a little R&R. I *do* enjoy a change of scenery. I’ve joined a couple of meetup groups in the area I’ll be staying so I can get in some nice outdoor runs in the fantastic temps. I’m pretty excited about it!
